Six straight months of sales increasing more than 20%

Ford's U.S sales for May soared 21.9% over last year's figures.

The company said total sales rose to 196,912 units from 161,531 units in May last year. Retail sales were up 19% versus a year ago, and Ford gained retail market share for the 19th time in the last 20 months. Fleet sales were up 32%.

"Our laser focus on fuel efficiency and quality is paying off for our customers and for Ford," said Ken Czubay, Ford vice president.

He said "Ford resale values continue to increase at a rate higher than the overall industry."
