Sanderson Farms Brings 1,100 New Jobs to North Carolina

The economic impact of this project will bring 2,400 jobs and $5.5 billion over a 10-year period to the Nash County region

Sanderson Farms Inc. (IW 500/362), the third largest poultry producer in the United States, announced on Tuesday that they will open a new poultry processing plant and hatchery in Nash County, North Carolina.

The $91.4 million investment will create 1,100 new jobs.

“Despite challenging market conditions, we remain confident in the long term success of the company and our industry,” said CEO Joe F. Sanderson. “We also remain confident in and committed to our growth strategy.”

The company has annual sales of more than $1.978 billion.

“The economic impact of this project will bring 2,400 jobs and $5.5 billion over a 10 year period to the Nash County region,” said Frank Harrison, chairman of the Carolinas Gateway Partnership.
