Supply Chain Disasters on Video: 10 Reasons Why Your Products Were Never Delivered

Aug. 15, 2014
There are a lot of reasons why freight never gets delivered on time, or at all. This video gallery shows 10 of the most bizarre instances of the Imperfect Order.

Supply chain management has been in practice for at least 30 years, with its popularity hastened by the emergence of affordable computing that made the planning and managing of logistics a much less tedious task than before. And yet, every year transportation and warehousing costs continue to go up and it seems like we're no closer to reaching the nirvana of the Perfect Order than we were back in the early 1980s.

Today, technology has made it possible to process an order almost instantaneously, with next-day delivery windows routine and even same-day deliveries in some cases. But even the best technology in the world can't compete against two daunting challenges: human error (also known as human stupidity, in some cases) and Mother Nature herself. The following video gallery offers 10 examples of deliveries that never made it safely to the loading dock and the end customer. Just click on the words "Watch video" at the end of each capsule description.
