China's trade surplus hit $10. 5 billion in April, customs authorities said May 12. The trade surplus is up 128% from $4.6 billion previously reported by the commerce ministry for April last year.

Exports in April soared 23.9% to $76.9 billion, while imports were up by a more moderate 15.3% to $66.5 billion, the customs authorities said.

For the first four months of the year, the trade surplus totaled $33.8 billion dollars, a rise of 60.2% from the same period a year ago as exports increased 25.8% to $274.2 billion while imports rose 22.1% to $240.4 billion.
