3E Co., a Carlsbad, Calif.-based provider of business process outsourcing solutions for environmental health and safety information and compliance management, is offering its online 3E Transportation Classification solution. The solution supports compliance with regulations enforced by the U.S. Department of Transportation that require transporters to appropriately classify, package, mark, label, placard and ship hazardous materials. "There are many regulations involving transportation, worker safety and the environment -- and new ones are being created all the time," says Steve Olson, corporate environmental compliance and dangerous goods manager for America West Airlines. "Moreover, the number and types of chemicals vary from airport to airport. The biggest challenge has been staying current with our data sheets and having assistance with poisons and spills immediately." The solution features multiple services including proper shipping name, hazard class, UN number packing group, possible applicable exceptions, and additional shipping notes. 3E's Transportation Classification online tools include a reportable quantity calculator and printing and viewing of markings and labels.
