Compiled ByTraci Purdum American Standard Companies, a Piscataway, N.J.-based diversified manufacturer, is installing Houston-based Scalable Software's Survey Technology Manager on its 37,000 desktop computers in order to gather usage data for software applications. The software will enable American Standard to measure actual application usage time down to the minute. The information can be used to negotiate software maintenance fees, ASP contracts and software licensing agreements based on actual usage - not the number of installed licenses. It also will help the company to implement usage-based charge-backs, manage licensing compliance, eliminate unneeded resources and reduce IT costs. "If applications aren't used, they are not delivering value to the business," says Louis Woodhill, president and CEO of Scalable Software.
