Compiled ByDeborah Austin Top purchasing executives at three major automakers have decided to pursue certain technology products from Covisint LLC as standards to simplify business for upstream parts manufacturers. The decision means that suppliers will no longer need to support different processes for each automotive manufacturer. DaimlerChrysler AG, Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Corp. will pursue as standards these products from Covisint:
  • Covisint Auctions -- online bidding events that provide real-time, Web-based negotiations in a secure environment;
  • Covisint Advanced Quality Planner -- an Internet-enabled application to manage the Advanced Product Quality Planning process. Developed by Powerway Inc., it provides an environment for collaboration, reporting, routing and visibility of information to develop quality standards for components.
  • Covisint Catalogs -- electronic purchasing environments for maintenance, repair and operations, and indirect material. Southfield, Mich.-based technology firm Covisint was founded by DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors, Nissan, Renault, Commerce One and Oracle.
