Compiled ByDeborah Austin Aiming to expand improved service capability to customers in 80% of the nation, packaging solutions maker Pactiv Corp. has opened an 871,000-sq-ft Midwest Regional Distribution Center in Romeoville, Ill. To manage the 24/7 facility, Pactiv has formed a logistics partnership with Standard Corp., a third-party logistics provider headquartered in Columbia, S.C. As part of Pactiv's "one-stop shopping" strategy, Midwest customers will now place a single order for multiple products and receive a consolidated shipment from the center -- which will support 45 inbound shipments per day from Pactiv manufacturing sites and 45 outbound customer shipments. The $3 billion Pactiv, headquartered in Lake Forest, Ill., makes consumer packaging solutions including Hefty brand products, as well as food-service packaging and protective/flexible packaging.
