Newton, Iowa-based Maytag Corp. has formed a Global Supply Chain division to consolidate and coordinate procurement, manufacturing, and logistics across the corporation, the company announced. Carole J. Uhrich, executive vice president and president of Maytag's Home Solutions group, has responsibility for the recently established enterprise-wide supply chain management function, including procurement, manufacturing, and logistics for all of the corporation's businesses and brands. Maytag recently recruited senior leaders to fill enterprise positions in procurement and logistics. A search is underway to fill the manufacturing leadership position. All three positions report to Uhrich. "Maytag is focused on improving performance in every aspect of its business and in every function," Uhrich says. "The Global Supply Chain initiative consolidates critical functions that previously had been managed independently in each business unit at the corporation. This will enable us to leverage the size and strength of a $4 billion corporation in ways we have not done in the past, providing new opportunities to improve our cost, quality, manufacturing, and service performance.
