Compiled ByTraci Purdum The National Center for Manufacturing Sciences (NCMS), Ann Arbor, Mich., has launched two new Compliance Assistance Centers for the auto recycling and construction sectors. The centers were created to increase understanding of and compliance with environmental regulations, according to NCMS. For auto recycling businesses, the Environmental Compliance Automotive Recyclers Center (ECARcenter) provides access to state and federal environmental rules as well as best practices and links to important Internet resources. The Construction Industry Compliance Assistance Center (CICAcenter) helps builders, contractors and developers understand environmental regulations and locate resources to help them comply. "Keeping up with the latest environmental regulatory changes is a major task for industry," says Paul Chalmer. "The NCMS Compliance Assistance Centers provide information in plain language that covers both federal regulations as well as the rules in all 50 states." NCMS coordinated the development of the sites with the EPA, the Automotive Recycling Association, Associated General Contractors of America, National Association of Home Builders, American Road and Transportation Builders Association and the Golf Course Builders Association of America.
