If business wants to capture the next generation of entrepreneurs, it will need to have strong Internet business opportunities. A survey of high school students in San Diego by the research firm, Computer Economics Inc., Carlsbad, Calif., found that 8% are already running a business online and that another 56% are either planning an Internet business or thinking about running an online venture in the future. Peculiarly, all the of students running an e-business were male, and over half of the 37% who said they have never considered running a business were female. What might account for those differences based on gender? Of the students with personal Web pages, only 11% were female. The study also found that 63% of the male students with a Web site use the site to make money. Females with a Web site tend to use their Web sites to express ideas or promote a cause.
