Compiled ByJill Jusko Women with more experience in the fields of electrotechnology and information technology have higher median incomes than men with similar experience, a new survey shows. Specifically, women with 20 to 24 years of experience earned $100,037, while men made $98,500. Women with 25 to 29 years of experience earned $107,000; men with like experience earned $99,600. The data is courtesy of the IEEE-USA Salary & Fringe Benefit Survey, 2001 Edition, released in December. Results are based on income earned in 2000. However, men continue to earn more than women at lower experience levels, the survey indicates. For example, men with five to six years of experience had a median income of $76,000, while women earned $68,000. At 15 to 19 years, men earned $96,000, compared with $84,700 for women.
