Dialing Taipei: New Year, New Number

Beginning Jan. 1, 1998, telephone and fax numbers in Taipei, Taiwans capital, and the Keelung area will contain eight digits, not the current seven. Precede the current number with a "2" to make the change. Note: there will be no transition period; seven-digit numbers will not work after Jan. 1.
