The London School of Economics will offer a course on "Economics of the Environment" within its Economics Summer School. The course, which is being offered for the first time, will be offered from July 24 to Aug. 11. According to Eric Neumayer, who will teach the course, its purpose will be to provide students with a sound knowledge and understanding of the major basic results of environmental economics.

Topics to be covered include: environmental externalities and the theory of market failure; economics of pollution control; economics of natural resource use; valuation of environmental resources; and economics of international environmental problems.
