Torrance, Calif.-based Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. (TMS) Inc. soon will become the largest single worldwide user of 100% renewable power. The company announced that all of the electricity used at its U.S. headquarters site, along with facilities in Long Beach, Irvine, and Ontario, Calif., will now come from power provided by Edison Source, a member of the Edison Enterprises family.

Designed as a cleaner alternative to conventional power, Edison Source's EarthSource electricity is derived from renewable sources such as solar, wind, hydro-electric, biomass, and geothermal. It creates less air pollution than fossil fuels such as coal, oil, or gas.

TMS is the U.S. sales and marketing arm of Toyota Motor Corp.

"As the fourth-largest auto company in the U.S., Toyota has a responsibility to the environment," said Yoshi Ishizaka, TMS president and CEO. "We must reevaluate every part of our operations from recycling waste paper to purchasing renewable-resource electricity."
