Are you an overbearing psycho? A total "tool"? Or, God forbid, a sex-starved maniac?
If any of these labels describe your management style, you might want to consider hiring a bodyguard -- because your workers might be trying to kill you.
That's the premise of the movie "Horrible Bosses," which opens in theaters tomorrow.
"Three friends conspire to murder their awful bosses when they realize they are standing in the way of their happiness," is the synopsis offered by imdb.com, an online movie database.
"Horrible Bosses" is Hollywood's latest take on management-induced misery. It's a genre that includes gems such as "Office Space" -- featuring the passive-aggressive Bill Lumbergh (Gary Cole) -- and "9 to 5" -- featuring the sexist Franklin M. Hart Jr. (Dabney Coleman).
"Horrible Bosses" offers three bad-boss stereotypes: Kevin Spacey as the overbearing psycho; Jennifer Aniston as the sex-starved man-eater; and Colin Farrell as a corrupt business owner who "plans to funnel toxic waste into an unsuspecting population," according to Warner Brothers' "Horrible Bosses" website.
Whether these stereotypes bear any resemblance to reality is debatable. The important thing is that hopefully your management style doesn't fall into any of the aforementioned categories.
If it does, you might want to consider going back to business school, hiring a human resources consultant -- or wearing a bulletproof vest to work.
