Things on the cybersecurity front have for the past few months been relatively quiet from a manufacturing point of view. Threat actors (bad guys) caused "operational difficulties" for Foxconn back in May and purportedly made away with data from Apple, Intel, Google, NIVIDIA and AMD among others. Not a small hack.
Now threat actors have in the last few weeks attacked critical water utilities, 43 different corporations in a single wave of attacks, and now certain S7-series Siemens PLCs.
So, while I don't anticipate this happening very often, both our lead stories this week are on cybersecurity. Feel free to be a little unnerved when you read about these hacks, or planned hacks, and it's never a bad idea to re-examine your cybersecurity hygiene.
