Aug. 13, 2015
With this interactive map, discover the regions and cities where the best U.S. manufacturers are headquartered.

California, with seven, and Texas, with six, host the headquarters of the most IndustryWeek 50 Best U.S. Manufacturers this year. The two states are followed by Minnesota (5), New York (4) and Ohio (4).

California has two clusters, with four in the central part of the state (Cupertino, Redwood City, Foster City and Milpitas) and three in the south (Corona, Irvine and San Diego).

Houston is the HQ stronghold for the Texas-based Best Manufacturers, with Oasis Petroleum Inc. (petroleum & coal products), Westlake Chemical Corp. (chemicals) and FMC Technologies Inc. (machinery) based in the city.

El Paso, Richardson and Dallas, each with one Best Manufacturer HQ, round out the Texas contingent.

Richmond, Va., and New York each have two from the elite list.

Still, reviewing the headquarters locations of this elite group it's hard not to notice that what's come to be known as the Rust Belt—Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois and southeast Wisconsin—is home to quite a few. The five states combined boast 14 Best Manufacturers.
