IT Leaders Want More Say in Strategy: By The Numbers

June 9, 2008
Would be willing to trade jobs for better strategic role

While IT leaders at U.S. companies say they are achieving business integration and corporate outsourcing goals, they want more decision-making responsibility and involvement in strategy development, according to a recent Harvey Nash survey. And the absence of strategic authority translates into a willingness to seek other roles at other companies (often despite significant increases in compensation and general job satisfaction).

54 percent of IT leaders who would entertain a call from a corporate headhunter

17 percent who say they would not consider a new position

10 percent who are actively seeking and applying for new job

18 percent who are selectively applying for jobs

22 percent who want "greater involvement in business strategy"

13 percent who want "expanded decision-making capabilities"
