DuPont to Sell Flame-Resistant Safety Wear in Asia

Feb. 16, 2011
Company partners with Indian firm to produce apparel.

DuPont signed an agreement with India-based Arvind Ltd. to manufacture and sell flame-resistant fabrics and industrial apparel in India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal, DuPont said Feb. 16.

DuPont will sell the product under the Nomex brand name. DuPont expects the move will shorten delivery time of Nomex to Indian customers, providing the company with a competitive edge in the market.

DuPont also says it's responding to a growing global trend toward safety and security.

"With our focus on market-driven local innovations, we have identified security and safety as one of the global megatrends that we will address."

Under the agreement, DuPont will supply Nomex and provide technical support to Arvind. Arvind will service Nomex-licensed industrial apparel manufacturers and supply ready-stitched industrial coveralls to key accounts and a network of distributors.
