Japan's Denso to Expand North American Operations, Hire 1,200 in US

Auto parts manufacturer says it also will make the majority of critical tooling for North America in the region, primarily Tennessee, and 'source several millions of dollars of business to American machine shops'

Denso said the investment -- of which $750 million and 1,200 will go to U.S. operations -- comes as automakers are looking to their suppliers for help meeting tough new fuel economy standards and will allow Denso to expand its customer base.

"This will not happen overnight, but we have committed to source several millions of dollars of business to American machine shops,” he added.

Denso currently employs more than 14,000 people at 28 consolidated companies and affiliates in North America.

Worldwide, the company has more than 200 subsidiaries and affiliates in 35 countries and regions and employs more than 120,000 people.
