Overall, 2012 was a lackluster sales year for the biggest U.S. chemical makers, especially the top six: Procter & Gamble, Dow Chemical, Du Pont, 3M, Colgate-Palmolive and PPG.

Conversely, three of the four companies at the lower end of the top 10 experienced strong revenue growth in 2012.
