IW Manufacturing Hall of Fame 2013: A Classy Class

Nov. 5, 2013
All eight of this year's inductees evince in abundance the qualities that guarantee success in the manufacturing business: integrity; drive; passion; a flair for innovation; a deep determination to continuously improve their organizations; a laser focus on serving their customers, their employees and their communities.

Like our four previous IndustryWeek Manufacturing Hall of Fame classes, the Class of 2013 is an eclectic bunch. This year's eight inductees manage (or managed) companies that make 3-D printing machines, paint and coatings, wire and cable, packaging and corrugating equipment, agricultural and industrial equipment, medium- and heavy-duty trucks, truck engines, aircraft and aerospace systems.

That's a wide array of products, remarkably so. And these industry leaders, as you'll read on the pages that follow, have equally wide-ranging skill sets and passions and stories to tell about how they got where they are today and why manufacturing is central to what they have become.

As unique and diverse a group as they are, their commonalities are more striking than their differences. All eight inductees evince in abundance the qualities that guarantee success in the manufacturing business: integrity; drive; passion; a flair for innovation; a deep determination to continuously improve their organizations; a laser focus on serving their customers, their employees and their communities.

Those qualities, in fact, would guarantee success in any business. But we're delighted that these eight individuals chose manufacturing as their life's work. Our industry is very fortunate that they did.

The IW Manufacturing Hall of Fame Class of 2013 includes:

Mary Vermeer Andringa, CEO, Vermeer Corp. Gregory Kenny, President & CEO, General Cable Corp.

Bob Chapman, Chairman & CEO, Barry-Wehmiller Cos. Inc. Tim Solso, Former Chairman & CEO, Cummins Inc.
