Manufacturers Lauded for Setting Rapid Prototyping Benchmarks

March 8, 2008
Objet Geometries' PolyJet technology 'has set new benchmarks in rapid prototyping market.'

Objet Geometries Ltd. started 2008 on a high note after closing out 2007 in the same fashion. This maker of rapid prototyping and rapid manufacturing equipment recently received the 2007 Growth Excellence of the Year Award from analyst firm Frost & Sullivan. The award cites Objet Geometries' double-digit growth rates year-on-year for the past three years, and Frost & Sullivan notes that the company has "set new benchmarks in the rapid prototyping market" since it introduced its patented PolyJet technology in 2000.

PolyJet works by jetting materials in ultra-thin layers. Each layer is cured by UV lights after the jetting stage, producing fully cured models ready for immediate use, according to Objet Geometries.

The Frost & Sullivan nod comes on the heels of Objet Geometries' receipt of the EuroMold 2007 gold innovation award for its Connex500 3-D printing system, described as "the first 3D printing system where diverse materials with different mechanical or physical characteristics are used simultaneously."
