Simulia's 3D BioRID II dummy model is for use by the automotive industry during the design phase of seats and head restraints. It is used to assess and reduce the risk of neck injuries resulting from rear-end vehicle collisions. Autodesk will extend free use of its Inventor LT Technology Preview to its user community for one year. Based on Inventor 2009 technology, delivery of the new version is slated to precede the May 1 expiration date of the current version. Inventor LT allows manufacturers to create, share and edit 3D parts models from different CAD systems. Availability of the free software is limited to the U.S., Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
