William Heenan has retired as president of the Steel Recycling Institute due to health reasons and will be replaced by Gregory Crawford, the Steel Market Development Institute said Dec. 8.
Heenan was replaced Dec. 1 by Gregory Crawford who will serve as executive director of SRI, according to SMDI, a division of the American Iron and Steel Institute.
Heenan served 20 years with SRI and 19 years with United States Steel Corp. Crawford previously worked as SRI's vice president of operations. In that role, Crawford worked with private-sector and local/federal government managers on steel recycling issues. He has been active with the technical and marketing considerations for sustainability for many years, according to SMDI.
