Compiled ByJill Jusko The American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Outside Processor Managers Committee and the Outside Processors Council have announced a Web-based product for buyers of flat roll steel processing and warehousing services. The Outside Processors Council Buyers Guide allows users to located processing warehouse services in the United States, Canada and Mexico. More than 120 processing and warehouse facilities are part of the database, and more are being added daily. Once a user goes online and submits an inquiry, a list of processors that meets the search criteria is generated. Among the information generated for each facility are links to their capabilities, Web sites, detailed maps of their locations, quality system certification, union and minority status, available EDI (electronic data interchange) services, and contact information. Users are not required to be members of either AISI or the Outside Processors Council. Members of the Outside Processors Council can include their database listings free of charge, while non-members can list their facilities for a fee. The buyer's guide is available on the Outside Processors Council Web site.
