Platinum Acquires Clientele

Platinum Software Corp., a leading provider of financial-management systems, on June 30 acquired Clientele Software Inc., a Portland, Oreg., firm that develops customer service software.

Platinum, which in recent years had shed some nonfinancial applications, now appears to be expanding its product line once again. The Irvine, Calif.-based software firm is looking to get into the burgeoning market for what it calls "customer-centric" information systems.

"Adding customer information functionality is consistent with our intent to provide access to core business information throughout the enterprise-- ultimately reducing redundancy while improving accuracy and customer service," says George Klaus, chairman, president, and CEO of Platinum.
