Shell Oil Co. Foundation, Houston, has announced it will donate $5 million over five years to the Washington-based National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. It is the single largest corporate donation ever made in support of marine conservation. The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation will use the money to create a fund called the Shell Marine Habitat Program. That fund will help conserve, protect, and enhance the Gulf of Mexico ecosystem.

"Shell has had a long-standing relationship with the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and a long-standing commitment to environmental protection," says Jack Little, president and CEO of Shell Exploration & Production Co. "A thriving and vibrant Gulf of Mexico is important to all of us. Much of Shells business is centered along the Gulf coast, and many of Shells employees live, work, and retire in the region. We view the Shell Marine Habitat Program as an important investment in our future."
