A new Hyatt Hotels and Resorts study found that executives consider vacations essential to keeping their job performances up and maintaining a positive state of mind in both their personal lives (68%) and at work (63%). The survey of 622 executives also found, however, that half of the respondents do not take all of their allotted vacation days in a typical year. While on vacation, 75% of the executives Hyatt surveyed call into the office, 71% check their phone messages, 60% receive phone calls or email from the office, and 54% have spent time doing office work. Forty percent of executives said they check how their stocks, bonds, and mutual funds are doing while on vacation. Twenty-eight percent of respondents said they have had to cancel or cut short vacations due to work matters.
