Compiled ByTim Stevens Precision, real-time cost, and profit analysis of products manufactured in batch processes is the promise of Maxager, a software package from Maxager Technology Inc., San Rafael, Calif. Given that labor, overhead, and raw materials are fixed, the system analyzes the time each batch spends in its production so companies can discover profit potential based on profit per minute of available manufacturing time. This, in turn, allows companies to alter the mix of products to maximize profitability, according to the company. The system also seeks out production bottlenecks, allowing manufacturing times to be reduced.
