The nuclear-power generation business is still attractive enough for some government-owned European enterprises to join in bidding for the former Westinghouse nuclear-plant business now being shed by CBS Corp. British Nuclear Fuels PLC is joining Morrison Knudsen Corp. in one bid. Another joint bid is coming from France's Framatone and Cogema, two state-owned firms, who are teaming with Fluor Daniel. "We believe there is still a big future for European nuclear power, even if plant construction has slipped in recent years," says a Cogema official.
