Compiled ByPeter Strozniak Du Pont Displays, a business subsidiary of chemical manufacturing conglomerate Du Pont & Co., is spending $15 million to construct a new plant in Santa Barbara, Calif., to manufacture a new product for informational displays on mobile phones, pocket personal computers, and personal digital assistants. The plant will manufacture prototypes of polymer organic light emitting diode displays (Poly-OLED), and market them to original equipment manufacturers. This technology uses advanced polymer materials to produce bright and high contrast displays on handheld devices. Poly-OLED was developed by UNIAX, a display technology company that Du Pont acquired last year.
