According to a survey conducted by Roper Starch Worldwide for The Nature Conservancy, 70% of Americans believe that partnerships between corporations and conservation groups are a highly effective means of protecting the environment. The survey of 2,000 adults in the U.S. also found that more than two-thirds believe it is possible for economic development and environmental protection to be achieved simultaneously. The survey, "The Power of Two: Conservation and Corporate Environmental Responsibility," showed that Americans favor companies with a pro-environment image. Almost 80% of Americans say they are likely to have more positive feelings about companies that are in some way associated with an environmental group, and almost 75% said they are likely to buy the company's products or services. "This survey confirms what we at The Nature Conservancy have long believed -- that people place a high priority on the environment and think that protecting it should be a joint mission of the corporate world and conservationists," says John C. Sawhill, president and CEO of The Nature Conservancy. "Americans are tired of hearing about conflicts between the two and want to see us working together to achieve our goals in unison."
