National Association of Manufacturers President Jerry Jasinowski calls radio frequency identification (RFID) technology "the most significant development in logistics management since the invention of the bar code." Next month, the Washington, D.C.-based trade association he heads will co-sponsor a conference that addresses that emerging technology. RFID2004: New Rules of the Game will be held June 9-11 in Washington, D.C., at the Reagan International Trade Center. The event is co-sponsored by RFID Operations magazine. "Incorporating RFID will be a significant undertaking for most companies, but ultimately we will all be better off," says Jasinowski. "RFID will help reduce labor costs, theft, fraud and counterfeiting, and help managers improve business forecasting and gain market share."
