In an effort to beef up its customer and internal customer-service requirements, Unilever Foods North America will employ On-Demand TMS from Holland, Mich.-based LeanLogistics Inc. On-Demand TMS, a Web-based transportation management system, was selected after a review of potential vendors, according to Mike Raehl, director of transportation services at Unilever Foods North America. He expects the technology to "enable our people and processes to improve customer on-time delivery performance to appointment time and to requested arrival date, as well as enhance freight-carrier communications." LeanLogistics' says Unilever will employ its technology to integrate with SAP for order feed and EDI data and will focus on core transportation functions such as online appointment scheduling and messaging. Additionally, its WebSettle product will provide pre-payment audit and freight payment capabilities.
