Off-site employees not connected to a company's computer network can assess the susceptibility of their hardware and software to the Year 2000 (Y2K) date glitch with PC-Aid 2000 from STG International LLC, Princeton, N.J. Not a fix for the Y2K problem, the application tests the IT device in question, provides training to the employee on the liabilities of Y2K compliance, and offers suggestions on how to overcome complications, for instance, in two-digit fields entered in spreadsheet applications. Deployed over the company intranet or the Internet, the program also can report the susceptible applications on an individual's computer to IS management. PC-Aid 2000 can be customized with specific company Y2K policies and correction suggestions.
