Computer Associates International Inc., Islandia, N.Y., is offering its eTrust Managed Vulnerability Service, a subscription-based service to help customers ensure business continuity by tracking security alerts, mapping those alerts and executing and documenting patch management and remediation tasks. "If we can't effectively and immediately address known vulnerabilities across the enterprise, we put the business at unnecessary risk," says Rick Evans, senior vice president of communications and technology at Neways International, a global manufacturer and distributor of personal care and nutritional products. Computer Associate's eTrust Managed Vulnerability Service provides "a comprehensive solution to the business without diverting resources from other critical IT tasks," he adds. The eTrust Managed Vulnerability Service, which offers round-the-clock service, tests remediation measures prior to their implementation in the production environment. New software patches and configuration changes can be automatically delivered to remote nodes and customer-specific remediation guidance is available to administrative staff. Computer Associates also has announced the availability of eTrust Vulnerability Manager r8, a rack-mountable security management appliance that serves as the "technology cornerstone" for the service. Service pricing starts at $80 per node per year for 5,000 nodes.
