Complied ByDeb Austin Deere & Co. has launched an online university to promote more timely and efficient skill development -- within the company and to dealers worldwide. John Deere University, announced this November, is a dynamic learning portal with a "campus" for several divisions of Deere -- including construction, agriculture, power systems, and worldwide learning. Besides delivering online courses, it functions as a central training resource with information on certification requirements, instructor-led courses, and training materials. The university delivers just-in-time training that translates into a highly adaptive organization, says Phil LaGatta John Deere training center manager. LogicBay Corp. -- a Minneapolis-based enterprise e-Learning solutions company -- designed and developed the site, helping Deere launch and promote the university through its e-promotions service. The site was delivered through LogicBay's Learning Service Provider offering, which is powered by Saba. Saba is a global provider of human capital development and management solutions headquartered in Redwood Shores, Calif. Deere, the $13 billion manufacturer of agricultural and other equipment, is headquartered in Moline, Ill.
