The Pew Center on Global Climate Change and the Chatham House/Royal Institute of International Affairs will host a workshop on "Innovative Policy Solutions to Global Climate Change" on Apr. 25 to 26. The event will be held in Washington, D.C., at the Willard Inter-Continental Hotel. The conference will include discussion of policies currently being implemented by industrialized governments and the private sector to address the issue of global climate change. Speakers will include: John Prescott, deputy prime minister, UK; Robert Hill, minister for the environment and heritage, Australia; and Rodney Chase, deputy group chief executive, BP Amoco PLC. Topics of discussion will include common policy approaches (taxes, trading, and negotiated agreements), issues such as competitiveness and trade harmonization, energy and transportation sector policies, and state and local level programs.
