The Lear Corp.'s Winchester, Va., injection-molding plant is the recipient of the 1998 Shingo Prize for Excellence in Manufacturing. The prize, which promotes world-class manufacturing and recognizes companies that excel in productivity and process improvement, quality enhancement, and customer satisfaction, will be awarded during the 10th Annual Shingo Prize Conference and Awards Ceremony May 11-15 in Lexington, Ky. Lear's Winchester plant produces automotive interior parts for Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp., Toyota Motor Corp., and Saturn. It opened in 1976 and employs almost 700 workers.

The Shingo Prize is awarded by Utah State University's College of Business.
