Compiled ByDeborah Austin In an expanded service offering for manufacturers, PFSweb Inc. is offering supplier-consigned inventory hubbing in its own distribution facilities or co-located in other facilities. Light assembly and specialized kitting are included in the new offering, as well as customized light manufacturing and supplier relationship management for larger clients, enabling product assembly and packaging based on clients' engineering specifications and quality requirements. The new services can help manufacturers save money and time-to-market by collapsing the supply chain into the minimal steps needed for distribution preparation, says PFSweb, a Plano, Texas-based provider of business process outsourcing services. "Our manufacturing clients were asking PFSweb to play further upstream in the supply chain and to provide additional capabilities to assist them in meeting these goals," says Mark C. Layton, CEO.
