Smart Software Inc. is now shipping Version 6 of its Smart Forecasts demand forecasting, planning and inventory optimization product. The Belmont, Mass-based technology provider says the product includes major upgrades that provide tools for optimizing inventory stocking levels, enhancing database connectivity and collaborative forecasting. New features for Version 6 include:

  • inventory planning tools to automatically estimate optimal stocking levels and safety stock requirements for all forecasted items;
  • performance tracking reports, including forecasts versus actuals;
  • collaborative forecasting options to save and review multiple forecasting scenarios;
  • fully integrated comments facility for adding notes and documenting changes.
Additionally, Version 6 can access remote databases over the Internet. It integrates with major corporate databases, including Oracle, IBM DB2 and SQL.
