U.S. aerospace companies face their toughest military challenge in many years from their European rivals as Britain, Germany, Italy, and Spain tool up production lines for the Eurofighter 2000. Although American manufacturers assert the new European plane wont shoot down their steady selling F-4 and F-16s, the Eurofighter has recorded a remarkable 620 orders. "Pilots will be queuing up to fly it," predicts Paul Beaver, weapons analyst at Janes Information Group Ltd., London.
