Lexington, Mass.-based Raytheon Co., a leading supplier to the aerospace and defense industry, has jumped on the business-to-business e-commerce wagon by launching EverythingAircraft.com, a Web site for general aviation buyers and suppliers. EverythingAircraft.com gives domestic and international buyers the ability to locate and purchase airplane parts from numerous suppliers, with no subscription fees. Raytheon, along with Boeing Co., Lockheed Martin Corp., BAE Systems, and Commerce One, developed the Internet trading exchange for the global aerospace and defense industry, which will provide a secure electronic marketplace for buyers and sellers. The four lead participants in the venture conduct worldwide business with more than 37,000 suppliers, hundreds of airlines, and national governments -- all of whom will be invited to join the marketplace. "EverythingAircraft.com takes decades of supply-chain management expertise and aims it squarely at dot.com space," says John Carroll, general manager of the site. "We are offering one-stop 'click and buy' convenience at no cost to the buyer community." The business-to-consumer component for EverythingAircraft.com will be launched later in the year for general aviation consumers. It will be a resource for information, products, and services for the aircraft community. Raytheon has operations throughout the United States and serves customers in more than 80 countries.
