The more I read about the Nintendo Wii, the more I like what I hear.

If you recall, a few short years ago Nintendo had been all-but written off, consigned to the dustbin of gadgethead history by the consumer tech literati. (A similar tale to Apple, actually.)

Then, using somewhat outdated technology with an innovative interface as a front end, the company produced a product that not only destroyed the loss leaders it was competing against (both the XBox and the Playstation are sold at a loss and packaged with pricey games and services) in terms of units moved, but also generates a tidy little operating profit of $6 per unit, according to Gamespot.

Plus, it's become an object of fascination for some very smart people, and not just for idle amusement -- see the video below.
