Interesting commentary in The Washington Post on the prospects of the United States becoming "energy independent" should the day come when every green initiative is up and running. The author, who apparently is out plugging a book on the subject, offers a compelling case as to why it's not such a good idea to give up on a petroleum-based economy right yet, but he doesn't really come out and suggest any alternatives, either. Maybe you have to buy his book to find out.
