Web 2.0 Adoption

Widespread and building.

According to a recent McKinsey executive survey, 70% of respondents say they are using some combination of 2.0 technologies for communicating with their customers. Nearly two-thirds of executives whose companies are investing in 2.0 tools think they are important for maintaining the company's market position, either to provide a competitive edge or to match the competition and address customer demand.

In its own survey, Forrester Research Inc. says that 106 of 119 CIOs from companies with more than 500 employees are using at least one of these Web 2.0 technologies.

No matter the size of the company, 61% of the executives surveyed would prefer to purchase Web 2.0 tools as a suite and from a large, incumbent vendor.
