How's the Manufacturing Sector Doing: An Industry Overview Based on the 500 Largest US Companies (Podcast)

May 16, 2024
In this podcast, IndustryWeek Editor-in-chief Robert Schoenberger delves deep into the numbers to provide a barometer of the manufacturing industry.

How's the U.S. manufacturing sector doing?

That's a big question to ask and one IndustryWeek Editor-in-chief Robert Schoenberger took on with a little help from the recently released 2024 IndustryWeek U.S. 500, IW's annual ranking of the 500 largest U.S.-based, publicly held manufacturing companies based on revenue.

The answer to the question of how manufacturing is doing? Well, it's complicated. That's perhaps an unsatisfying response, but when you think about the vast number of industries manufacturing straddles—from food processing and assembling wind turbines to producing pharmaceuticals or plastic parts—there is no one-size-fits-all response.

Join Robert as he talks through the IW U.S. 500, sharing some of the highlights, low points, and everything in between.
