Video going round and round the Google Plus rounds today of what is apparently the latest model of humanoid robot from Japan. Consensus is, A) it's real and B) humanoid robots like these will be ubiquitous parts of our daily lives by the end of the decade and filling a number of low-level service roles. Which makes one wonder, if we're having a jobs crisis now ... what happens once the service industry gets automated by people-replacement technology in the same way that manufacturing did in decades past? What labor displacements will occur once the reception desk is "manned" by an android, and the nursing staff is made up of humanoid robots running IBM Watson semantic analysis engines?

Also, what will the Apple version look like, I wonder?
